Electromechanical Assembly Training Program
The Electromechanical Assembly Training (EMAT) program provides refugees and immigrants with technical job skills training for the participants to gain access to assembly jobs and to develop careers within the manufacturing industry. The training provides job-seeking individuals with skills in electrical, electronic and mechanical assembly techniques and workplace safety, which constitute critical skill shortages for assembly manufacturers in the area.

The training is conducted in a short period of ten-weeks (170 hours) – eight weeks in a classroom setting and a two week internship at local manufacturing companies. The program, being both theoretical and practical, incorporates broader components to increase success of clients such as: computer training, resume building, and Vocational English as a Second Language (VESL). Participants who successfully complete the EMAT program will be awarded a certificate and placed into jobs through collaborating employers.
