English as a Second Language (ESL)

ECAC offers three levels of English Language Training – Pre-Literacy and Beginning ESL (Level 1), Low Beginning ESL (Level 2), and High Beginning ESL (Level 3). The ESL program works to incorporate a basic understanding of U.S. workplace culture in addition to scenarios related to family, housing, health, transportation and other pragmatic contexts. This prepares students for additional training conducted by ECAC’s Job Developers to address the following topics: cultural lessons, resume development, interviewing skills, employment benefits, job search skills, transportation, employer expectations, workplace safety, employee rights and responsibilities, and computer and financial literacy. For Pre-literate students, the curriculum places emphasis on learning the alphabet and basic workplace vocabulary.
