Illinois Welcoming Center
The Illinois Welcoming Center (IWC) is a comprehensive service center dedicated to the integration of immigrants and refugees in Illinois. Its innovative model aims to eliminate systemic barriers that immigrants may encounter when approaching state services. Here are some key features of the Illinois Welcoming Centers:
1:-One-Stop Service: The IWC serves as a one-stop human service center, providing comprehensive and holistic case management and service coordination to immigrants and refugees. Staff at the centers assist individuals in a linguistically and culturally sensitive manner, connecting them to appropriate services offered by state and federal agencies as well as social service organizations.
2:-Community Alliances: Welcoming Centers lead efforts to coordinate social services within their specific geographic locations. They create Community Alliances by collaborating with local service providers. These alliances address common challenges faced in delivering services to immigrants and refugees, aiming to enhance service effectiveness and improve coordination.
3:-Education Workshops: The IWC hosts community education workshops to empower immigrants and refugees with information and resources for successful integration. These workshops contribute to building the capacity of immigrant and refugee communities.
